A ‘Hole in the Wall’ may open on Ogdensburg’s waterfront

OGDENSBURG – Visitors and residents in Ogdensburg may soon be able to grab a meal on the city’s waterfront.

Ogdensburg City Council appears to have secured a vendor for the concessions at the Dobisky Center that formerly housed “The Window” eatery.

Although the details were not shared, a public hearing has been set to allow the licensing of the property to Nathan Griffith who will be operating as “Hole in the Wall.”

The hearing, which is required in the City Charter will be held May 13 at 6 p.m. If approved the city will then be able to move forward with a lease agreement, which would require additional action by the council.

“Nathan Griffith has demonstrated the expertise to perform this type of food service,” the resolution says.

The resolution for the hearing was passed unanimously, but without any discussion.

Likewise the city did not share details on Girffith’s proposal.

The news came as a welcomed surprise for the city, which had issued a request for proposals but did not receive any formal responses during the attempt.

Interim City Manager Andrea Smith did point out at the previous meeting that while no formal proposals were received there had been some interest.

The kitchen has struggled to keep a regular operator since its construction. Despite its location and negotiable price, it remained unleased from 2013 until 2021.

The kitchen is 389 square-feet in size and includes basic commercial kitchen equipment and appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, grill, fryers and a stove.
