CANTON – Coordinated traffic stops by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Drug Task Force have resulted in the seizure of 28 pounds of marijuana and the arrests of three Syracuse-area people.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, vehicles driven by Deya Williams, 31, Syracuse, and Heather Wood, 29, North Syracuse, were pulled over on U.S. Rt. 11 by investigators. The Williams vehicle was pulled over in the Town of Gouverneur and the Wood vehicle was stopped in the Town of Canton.
Williams, Wood and Dewite Wood, 53, Syracuse, a passenger in the Heather Wood vehicle, were all charged with Class C felony possession of marijuana. The Williams vehicle had the weed in it, according to deputies.
Williams was also charged with failure to keep right and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor.
The three suspects were being held on $3,000 bail each.
Deputy Sean O’Brien said the investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.
