GardenShare’s new Local Food Guide is now available to help residents of St. Lawrence County find delicious local food through farmers markets, CSA’s and farm stands. Thousands of copies of the guide are produced and distributed to help families find great food while supporting local farmers and the economic strength of the County.

The Local Food Guide lists U-picks and restaurants, grocers, farm stands, farmers markets and CSA’s. The guide shares information about community meals, food pantries, backpack programs and cost-sharing options available through GardenShare. The Farmers Market Customer Guide provides a helpful overview on how a dollar can be stretched at local markets.

GardenShare also hosts an Online Local Food Guide at GardenShare.org that features an interactive map to help search for specific products or a specific farm. “We want to help folks access the delicious food that comes from right here in St. Lawrence County”, says Celine Carriere of GardenShare. “Our Local Food Guide is a great tool to find local honey, organic beef, heirloom tomatoes, maple syrup… If it grows in the County, it’s in our Guide!”

The Local Food Guide is provided to St. Lawrence County residents at no cost thanks to the generosity of GardenShare’s Friends and donors. Copies will be mailed directly to GardenShare Friends and shared through partner agencies. Local Food Guides are available on request by contacting the GardenShare office.

Contributions to support the food justice work of GardenShare – including production of the Local Food Guide - are graciously accepted, particularly as GardenShare launches its Spring Friend Appeal.
