Women should be allowed to make a choice about abortion without being scared or shamed by anyone. A recent letter to the editor (Letter to the Editor, “Breast Cancer More Likely After Abortion,” Jan. 18-24) is an old, tired attempt to bring fear into a woman’s choice. The writer is an activist with an agenda to prevent women from making their own decisions. When you evaluate the “scientific” data he misrepresents, please compare it to reliable sources. The American Cancer Society states, “At this time, the scientific evidence does not support the notion that abortion of any kind raises the risk of breast cancer or any type of cancer.” Please do not be swayed by fear of imaginary punishments for choosing abortion. If the letter writer does not like abortion that person should not have one.
