WPBS-TV, the PBS affiliate serving Northern New York and Eastern Ontario, is set to kick off its annual WPBS Holiday Auction.
This long-standing tradition will take place a little earlier this year - beginning on “Blue Friday” (November 17), and will feature donated items on air for three successive nights.
Every year, WPBS auctions off special gift items, baskets, furniture, antiques, certificates and more. Many items are great for holiday gifts and most have been donated by local small businesses. All items – including unique creations of artists and craftspersons – are being auctioned off to benefit WPBS and educational public media in our region.
Save Money, Give Better is the mission statement for the Holiday Auction this year, and WPBS-TV invites the public to join the annual celebration of giving and goodwill to help lift everyone’s spirit, while keeping our station running this year, and beyond.
Participating in the WPBS online Holiday Auction is as easy as a click via computer or mobile phone. To register for a bidder account and bid on items, go to wpbstv.org/auction. Anyone who needs assistance, please call 315-782-3142 ext. 319.
The schedule for open bidding and on-air previews is as follows:
Monday, Nov. 13 (7 pm – 8 pm) Preview Items Online
Friday, Nov. 17 (7 pm – 8 pm) LIVE Kick-Off & Bidding Opens
Saturday, Nov. 18 (7 pm – 8 pm)
Sunday, Nov. 19 (7 pm – 8 pm)
All three nights of on-air programming will also be streaming on Facebook and wpbstv.org. Bidding on all items will close on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 9 pm.
Since 1958, WPBS has contributed to the quality of life across the region with the finest commercial free children’s programming, trusted news and current affairs, music and performance programs, stories of local interest, lifestyle and health series, and exceptional science and history documentaries. All of this has been made possible through the kind support of many community members.
We are grateful to the many local businesses across our region who support the auction with their generous donations and we strongly encourage everyone to support them this Holiday Season.
The 2023 WPBS Holiday Auction is Sponsored by: Community Health Center of the North Country, Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County and Northern Regional Center for Independent Living.
