The National Weather Service says the winter weather advisory for St. Lawrence County, including the communities of South Colton, Star Lake, Ogdensburg, Potsdam and Gouverneur, will remain in effect until 7 p.m tonight.
Any remaining mixed precipitation changed to snow by Friday afternoon, with the greatest snow accumulations occurring across portions of northern New York. Snow accumulations of 6 to 8 inches is expected over the northern St Lawrence Valley, with 2 to 7 inches over most of the Adirondacks by Friday evening.
Areas of slick travel are expected throughout the day. Drivers should plan on poor travel conditions through early this evening with low visibilities and snow covered roads.
Travelers are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling and allow extra time if travel is necessary.
