A winter weather advisory is in effect for St. Lawrence County through 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Travel is expected to be very difficult this weekend in the North Country as a snow storm is expected to drop 6-8 inches of heavy snow. The snow will be mixed with strong winds, according (NWS).
Wind gusts as high as 35 miles per hour are possible, the service says. Snow will be heavy and wet, which could result in scattered power outages today and overnight.
Snow will be heaviest this afternoon, before tapering off tonight through Sunday, forecasters say.
Expect a high today around 33 and an overnight low of 29, NWS says.
The forecast through next Friday are as follows:

Snow likely before 10am, then a chance of snow showers after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 32. West wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

A 30 percent chance of snow showers before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 18. West wind 6 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
