High pressure over the North Country today will give way to an occluded low pressure system tracking out of the Great Lakes tonight with gusty southerly winds developing this afternoon and continuing tonight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The high today will be 70 with light winds, NWS says.
Light rainfall spreads into the region late tonight into early Saturday morning, then shifts eastward throughout the day, forecasters say.
Seasonable temperatures and drier weather will follow on Sunday but another round of showers will be possible Sunday night, the service says.
High pressure will then settle into the region through the first half of the upcoming week bringing warmer and drier conditions to the region, NWS says.
The forecast through Thursday is as follows:
Saturday
Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1pm, then a chance of showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Southwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph.
Sunday
Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Southwest wind around 9 mph.
Sunday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Monday
A 30 percent chance of showers before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. North wind 3 to 7 mph.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. Light north wind.
Tuesday
Sunny, with a high near 69. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the afternoon.
