North Country This Week
CANTON – The Village of Canton has hired a new village treasurer.
Sharon Brunet was hired at last week’s monthly meeting of the Canton Village Board. Her first day on the job was Thursday, May 18. Brunet, who resides in DeKalb, will be starting at $25 per hour.
“We look forward to adding her to our team,” stated Village Clerk Sally Noble.
The summer recreation staff is on board following board approval.
Julianna Richardson is the lifeguard leader.
Returning lifeguards at Jillian DiSalvo, Sydnee Francis, Brooke Larrabee, Kayla Larrabee, Olivia Logan, Megan Martin, Amelia Rodee, Olivia Sero, Emily Wentworth, and Luke Wentworth.
New lifeguards include Daniel Creurer, Emma Gotham, Ellie McDonough, Skyler Sanderson, Alexis Stuntz, Madeline Swinwood, and Maya Thomas.
Part-time summer laborers are Nathaniel Romano and John O’Neill.
Village leaders also awarded a timber bid to Michael Lyndaker for $74,000 on n 80-acre village watershed property on the Beech Plains Road, West Pierrepont.
