SUNY Potsdam retests 85 students due to invalid test specimens

St. Lawrence County's four colleges are also reporting COVID-19 on their respective campuses.

SUNY Potsdam needed to retest 85 students due to invalid test specimens, according to school officials.

The college has performed 2,126 on students with two coming back positive. Both of those cases have since been cleared by the department of health. There are 44 pending COVID-19 tests for students.

SUNY Potsdam says it tested 45 employees, two are pending and one was positive. That person is in isolation, officials said.

As of Friday, St. Lawrence University has no active cases of COVID-19. The college has performed 4,733 tests with two positive cases. Both of those cases have recovered. One test is pending. The school reports two people are in campus quarantine, out of 140 available beds.

Clarkson University, as Sept. 11, has zero active cases of COVID-19 on its campus. School officials say they have performed more than 4,021 tests with 99.95% of tests coming back negative. Two were positive but have since recovered.

As of Sept. 11, SUNY Canton reports 1,354 people tested with two positives. One of those is active and one has recovered, officials said.

All COVID-19 testing in St. Lawrence County is done through local hospital systems, by appointment only. Call the numbers below between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. if you have symptoms or feel you should be tested:
