SUNY Potsdam, Adirondack sign memorandum guaranteeing admission for students who complete degree
POTSDAM — SUNY Adirondack and SUNY Potsdam have formally signed a memorandum of understanding guaranteeing admission to Potsdam for Adirondack students who complete an associate’s degree.
The agreement, signed by SUNY Adirondack President Dr. Kristine Duffy and SUNY Potsdam President Dr. Kristin G. Esterberg, facilitates seamless transfer to baccalaureate programs at SUNY Potsdam.Under the agreement, SUNY Potsdam will offer guaranteed admission to all SUNY Adirondack associate degree graduates. Students must meet additional program or college requirements in order to declare majors in certain baccalaureate programs, such as in teacher education.
"With guaranteed admission to complete their undergraduate studies at SUNY Potsdam, this new agreement will give SUNY Adirondack students more flexibility and assurance when planning for their education and career. SUNY Adirondack graduates are well-prepared to enter our rigorous baccalaureate programs. It's a win-win for both campuses," Esterberg said.
SUNY Adirondack and SUNY Potsdam will collaborate to provide individual attention to students indicating interest in this opportunity. Adirondack students selecting this program will receive advising and degree planning support from both colleges to ensure students are taking appropriate coursework to keep them on target for timely degree completion.
"SUNY Potsdam is already a popular transfer destination for our students, and this formal agreement helps to keep students engaged on their path to a four-year degree. We are excited to clarify and simplify this process for SUNY Adirondack students," Duffy said.
