Stull named Acting Fire Chief in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG — The City of Ogdensburg appointed Assistant Fire Chief Kenneth Stull to the position of Acting Fire Chief, effective June 20, a press release issued by the city says.

The city also announced it would begin a nationwide search for a new fire chief.

A resolution voted down in June would have made City Manager Stephen Jellie the chief, however it failed in a 4-3 vote.

Assistant Chief Stull is a native of Ogdensburg and attended Ogdensburg City Schools, graduating from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1995.

Stull attended SUNY Canton and received an AAS Degree in the Individual Study of Trades becoming certified in Electrical Maintenance & Construction and Heating and Plumbing where he was then employed by UA local 73 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

In 2000, Mr. Stull became a firefighter with the City of Ogdensburg, graduating from the NYS Fire Academy in 2001, promoted to Fire Captain / Municipal Training Instructor in 2008.

In 2013, Mr. Stull was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief. During Assistant Chief Stull’s career with the fire department, he held various responsibilities including, Training Officer, Team Leader of the St. Lawrence County Hazmat Team, and Safety Officer of the Confined Space Rescue Team.

Stull holds many national certifications including: Firefighter 1 & 2, Fire Officer 1 & 2, Fire Instructor 1 & 2 and New York State certifications that include Advanced Hazmat Technician, Confined Space Rescue Technician, NYS EMT-D, NYS Code Enforcement Officer, Advanced Open Water Diver, and CPR Instructor.

Assistant Chief Stull currently resides with his partner, Jamieka Rowe and his two daughters, Kaydence and Kenna and he enjoys spending off duty time with his family and pursuing outdoor activities.
