GOUVERNEUR — State police are investigating a murder and have charged a suspect.
Troopers said they charged a 13-year old girl with second-degree murder at 3:20 p.m. on Monday. Police did not report her name.
The arrest took place at the police station, 1005 State Highway 11, officers said.
Gouverneur High School senior Treyanna Summerville was the victim, according to St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua.
Pasqua said the suspect was arraigned before Judge Morris in Srt. Lawrence County Court's Youth Part. The subject is reportedly being held in police custody.
Pasqua said there will be no further comment at this time as the incident is still under investigation.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact local police or state police.
The incident was reported to police Monday at 2:53 a.m.
Organizers of the local Black Lives Matter group are planning a march in Treyanna Summerville's name on Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. beginning at 180 E. Main St. in Gouverneur. The marchers will proceed to the police station and rally outside, said organizers.
