St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES: Education plans were submitted on time, state website had errors

The governor has scolded St. Lawrence County School Districts for failing to submit plans to the state, but the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Communications Manager says the error was actually on the state's end.

"All of the districts in St. Lawrence County submitted plans prior to the deadline," she said.

Mott pointed out that the plans in questions had been completed and publicly available on the district websites for sometime, which has been confirmed by the North Country This Week.

She said the plans were submitted to both the State Education Department and the Department of Health, but many districts received an error message from the state's website when submitted the plans to the Department of Health.

The governor went on the offensive saying schools that failed to submit plans would not be allowed to hold in-person classes.

The state continues to review plans based on set criteria. Districts that are found to be out of compliance will get a letter from the State Department of Health today and a follow-up call naming the sections of their plans that are deficient, in which case they will have until Friday to amend their plan.

"There are 107 school districts that have not submitted their plan - for those 107 school districts, how they didn't submit a plan is beyond me. If they don't submit a plan by this Friday, they can't open," Governor Cuomo said.
