CANTON — St. Lawrence County is under a state of emergency due to rising COVID-19 cases.
St. Lawrence County Legislature Chair Joseph Lightfoot says he authorized the change at the urging of the county's public health officials.
Lightfoot said there was another 10-11 positive COVID cases today. As of Friday, there were 58 active cases in SLC with eight hospitalized.
He said he expects the county to cut back its in-person workforce by half with some employees going back to working from home temporarily.
Lightfoot said St. Lawrence County Public Health wanted to raise awareness again and remind the public that the virus is still an issue.
He urged people to be cautious.
County lawmakers meet tonight and further action could be taken.
