St. Lawrence County legislators agreed to sign an Emergency Preparedness Contract May 16 at the Services Committee meeting.
The contract is used to promote and protect the health of county residents by planning “for health emergencies caused by deliberate acts, accidents and naturally occurring events to ensure that the Local Health Department is ready to respond to such threats,” the resolution says.
The program is required in order to allow the county to receive state assistance, according to the resolution.
The contract will run from July 1 through June 2023 with an allocation of $87,445.
Although the committee approved moving forward with the contract, it will require approval from the full board of legislators in June before it will move forward.
