Gusty southwesterly winds and sunshine will help temperatures warm into the low to mid 80s today in St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms today with a high near 82, forecasters say. Winds will be 11 to 16 mph with gusts as high as 28 mph.

High pressure builds into the region briefly on Sunday, followed by increasing heat and humidity on Monday. Some valleys will see high temperatures into the 90s, NWS says.

An approaching cold front will bring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms later Monday afternoon into Monday evening, with lingering rainfall possible into Tuesday morning.

Drier and cooler conditions will characterize the mid- week period.
