St. Lawrence County Chamber executive director shifts roles leading to vacancy

CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Chamber Board of Directors are looking to hire a new executive director, while current executive director, Brooke Rouse shifts her role to director of tourism.

“The Executive Committee has been working with Rouse to execute an updated strategic plan established in 2019,” a Chamber press release said. “The planning efforts were impacted by the COVID-19 crisis along with subsequent programmatic and financial restrictions that required a significant reorganization of staff. This new direction will capitalize on the strength of the current team members to maintain an active partnership with the business community, especially as the pandemic transitions through the recovery process.”

The Board of Directors says it seeks an executive director to concentrate on business development and potentially share services with other chambers for more economic efficiencies.

“This is an ideal time to bring in a new leader to shape the next chapter of the St. Lawrence County Chamber’s growth,” said Nadia Cutler, St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Board President. “The Board is committed to ensuring strong leadership for our members and area businesses, while providing a focused effort on the continued growth of the tourism sector in our County.”

The Chamber experienced a number of changes and internal consolidations over the past several months.

“The timing is right for me to move to a tourism-focused leadership role at the Chamber in order to deliver on the key goals identified in our strategic plan,” Rouse said. “I look forward to being part of this process to further enhance and promote St. Lawrence County’s wonderful business and travel options.”
