OGDENSBURG -- U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will visit the Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority (OBPA) to highlight a multimillion-dollar federal investment she secured to expand access to child care in the area.
This funding will help OBPA develop a new child care facility and ensure that Ogdensburg families have access to high-quality, affordable care close to home, release from Gillibrand's office said.
The new facility will come from a partnership with Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence and will be open to the public. The move comes following responses from a community survey, in which residents identified affordable childcare as a top priority.
Sen. Gillibrand will be joined by Executive Director of the Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority Steve Lawrence, USDA Rural Development State Director for New York Brian Murray, New York State Assemblyman Scott Gray, and The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence CEO Lynn Pietroski.
The project is estimated to cost around $4.7 million.
