Seaway Festival in O’burg to feature music, wine, crafters, parade, fireworks and more

OGDENSBURG — Live music, a wine and craft show, a parade, fireworks, kids games and more will all take place during the annual Seaway Festival that begins today, Saturday, July 23.

The festival continues through Sunday, July 31.

Here are highlights of some of the major events, followed by a complete festival schedule:

Concerts in the Park

Come enjoy live music in Library Park!

Bring a picnic and a blanket and watch the sun set over the St. Lawrence.

Here are performers in the “Concert in the Park” series:

• Saturday, July 23, 6 - 8 p.m. — Into the Black, ‘80s rock

• Tuesday, July 26, 6 - 8 p.m. — Whiskey & Wine, acoustic duo

• Wednesday, July 27, 6 - 8 p.m. — Another roadside Attraction

• Thursday, July 28, 6 - 8 p.m. — Atom Ghost, classic rock

• Friday, July 29, 5 - 7 p.m. — Jayne Truedell

• Friday, July 29, 7 - 10 p.m. Rock Candy

Wine, Craft and Farmstand Show

Shop and sample fresh local vegetables, wood products, ceramics, honey, syrup, jewelry, direct sales & more at the Wine, Craft & Farmstand Show in Lockwood Arena.

 The show takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, 25.

Music will be provided by Slick Rick and Timeless Events.

A food truck from Pig and Moo will offer concessions.

A Blackstone Grill and grill masters kit donated by Lowe’s will be raffled off.

Over 65 vendors will set up their displays at the annual show, which draws hundreds of people each year during Ogdensburg’s Seaway Festival.

Sandbar Classic Fishing Derby

Hosmer’s Marina hosts the 2022 Sandbar Classic fishing derby for kids & adults Sunday, July 24, with weigh-in from from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry is $20 for adults and $10 for ages 16 & under.

Divisions will include bass, walleye, pike, and perch from the St. Lawrence River only. All fish must be alive upon entry. Place will be determined by weight.

Wild West BBQ

Fred’s Wild West BBQ will be served at the Frederic Remington Art Museum Saturday, July 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out.

Live music will be provided by Gary Walts – Heavy Mellow Guitar.

The event is catered by Parker Piercey, of PCP-BBQ Catering. Cost per meal is $15 and includes pulled pork, chicken, salt potatoes, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, watermelon, a Lipton Teas product, and museum admission.

Guests are welcome to enjoy their meal under a lawn tent provided by Fox & Murray Funeral Home or as take-out. The event is sponsored by Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers. All proceeds benefit the museum.

Tug of War

A tug-of-war will take place in the volleyball area of Greenbelt Park on Thursday, July 28 at 6 p.m.

Teams of six will compete to claim this year’s title as champs! Entry fee is $30 per team. At least two of the six members must be female.

Seaway Festival Parade

The annual Seaway Festival parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30 on Ford Street.

The parade will feature marching bands, floats, dance performances and more. Participants have the opportunity to have their performances and floats judged by a panel along the parade route.

The parade starts at the east end of Ford Street and finishes on the west side, usually lasting for 1-2 hours. Spectators are invited to pull up chairs and watch the parade on the verge. Spectators must respect private property and stay out of the road.

On parade day, expect Ford Street and most side streets to be closed until midday. During this time, no parking will be permitted either.

 There is no cost to enter a float or walk in the parade – though there is a fee for politicians to sign up to walk. Parade entry details are at

Rubber Duck Event

At least 1,000 rubber ducks will hit the slide and race to the bottom of the Ogdensburg City Pool at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 31.

People who buy a ticket with a winning duck number will win cash prizes — $500 for first place, $100 each for second and third place, and $50 each for fourth and fifth place.

Tickets are $5 per duck and can be purchased at River Rat Design / Roethel’s on Ford Street.

All Proceeds to Benefit the Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival.

Cornhole Tournament

A cornhole tournament will take place 1 p.m. July 31 at the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge.

Two-person teams will compete in the double-elimination tourney.

Prizes will be awarded. Food and beverages will be available.
