OGDENSBURG — Searchers and rescue teams have suspended the search in Black Lake for a missing man until weather conditions improve.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies said that due to dropping temperatures, teams were unable to keep up with ice breaking to allow divers, airboats and sonar equipment to access the water to search for David Redmond Jr.
Redmond and his daughter Larissa Redmond were last seen on Friday, Jan 15 snowmobiling. The pair are believed to have gone through the ice on the lake. Larissa Redmond’s body was found Tuesday, Jan. 20, reported the sheriff’s department. Her father has still not been found.
Ten agencies, including 20 law enforcement officers and fire department divers, are involved in the search.
“We will continue our recovery efforts when it can be done safely for all of the Police and Fire personnel whom have been working tirelessly for the last three days. Our condolences go out to the families involved in this tragedy,” said Undersheriff Sean O’Brien.
