CANTON – A safe chainsaw operation workshop is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 11 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County’s Learning Farm on Rt. 68.

Landowners or maple producers looking to brush up on their skills or members of a club or trail crew looking to meet DEC requirements for cutting wood on state lands will benefit from this class.

Mike Burns of the Empire State Forest Products Association will lead the group through videos on chainsaw maintenance and safety and dealing with storm damaged trees, a live demonstration, and a group discussion.

There will be a drawing for door prizes, including chainsaw chaps, helmet systems and sharpening guides.

Each participant will receive a copy of Logging Safety:A Field Guide.

The fee is $10 payable at the door.

To register, contact Becca at 782-7289, ext. 5.
