North Country This Week
NORFOLK — Sabad’s Restaurant, long a staple of the North Country dining scene, has re-opened.
Sabad’s is a family owned restaurant which first began offering patrons high quality dining in 1955 and has long been known for its Hungarian roots.
In 1998 the Hadzovic family purchased the restaurant, keeping alive the restaurant and many dishes that fans had come to expect, including Hungarian cabbage noodles and prime rib specials.
After 24 years of ownership, the Hadzovic family opted to sell the restaurant with an official announcement made on May 5 through the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Though the restaurant is under new ownership, many of the staples customers have come to expect over the the last 67 years have popped up from time to time, including fried perch and prime rib.
Appetizers include fried calamari, Parisian mussels, fried mozzarella, coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktail and arancini.
For entrees, customers can expect many classic Italian dishes like parmigiana chicken or veal, chicken alfredo and creamy tomato spinach fettuccine with a quinella of artichoke ricotta.
Also included on the menu is wienerschnitzel, creamy cavatappi, shrimp fra diavolo, chicken or veal marsala, chicken or salmon piccata, penne ala vodka and sirloin steak.
An updated cocktail menu is also on the way, which will soon replace the summertime cocktail list.
Reservations are strongly encouraged according to one Facebook post, with the restaurant having been fully booked on multiple occasions since reopening again on July 6.
Sabad’s is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 4-9 p.m. each night.
For a reservation, call (315) 384-6023.
