RENSSELAER FALLS – Village of Rensselaer Falls officials applaud the effort by everyone involved in securing crucial funds for the community's library, especially Assemblyman Scott Gray and the Canton Free Library.

“Their unwavering support has been instrumental in acquiring funding from the New York State Library's State Aid for Library Construction Program,” stated Mayor Michael Hammond.

The New York State Education Department/New York State Library approved the Rensselaer Falls Library's application for the 2022/2023 State Aid for Library Construction Program in the amount of $33,050, which will be utilized in accordance with Education Law Section 273-a and Commissioner's Regulations 90.12.

“This funding will serve as a catalyst towards realizing our vision of inclusion and accessibility within the community,” Hammond remarked. “Our library aspires to become a safe haven where community members can seek refuge from the cold winter months or escape the sweltering heat of summer as a heating and cooling station.”

“Additionally, we are committed to expanding our operating hours, allowing community members greater access to the valuable services and resources our library provides as we continue to grow,” he added.

Hammond emphasized that this grant represents one of the first stepping stones towards achieving our broader vision.

“It is an exciting opportunity to enhance our library's capabilities and create a space that promotes inclusivity and serves as a cornerstone of the community,” said Hammond. “Together, we are moving closer to realizing our vision of a library that fosters lifelong learning, community engagement, and accessibility for all.”
