With the current snow levels increasing at an almost daily occurrence, the St. Lawrence County Trail Committee has issued a reminder to all snowmobilers of the following rules:
Stay on the marked trail. Enter and exit the trail system only at trailheads or town connectors.
Trails are open from 6 a.m. until midnight unless special permission is granted.
Obey all signs, gates and barriers.
Always stop when signaled by a law enforcement or safety patrol officer.
Respect the environment. Travel with minimum impact. Do not litter. Carry out what you carry in and leave nothing behind.
Always carry personal identification.
Watch the weather and dress appropriately.
No alcohol may be consumed on the trail.
Be prepared – carry a first aid kit, tools, spare equipment and a cell phone or two way radio.
Remember to “Ride your Side.” You may be seeing signs on the trail about staying to the right and reading about it in previous press releases. Riders have a habit of coming around the inside of blind corners and possibly hitting an on-coming rider. Trails are narrow winding woods trails with many blind corners. Slow down, don’t cut to the inside corners, and “Ride your Side.”
