DEKALB JUNCTION -- Registered physician assistant (PA) Brittani Bickel has joined the medical staff of St. Lawrence Health System’s Gouverneur Hospital.
Ms. Bickel earned her certificate of physician studies at LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 2007.
She completed rotations in general surgery, geriatrics/psychiatry, emergency medicine, family practice/primary care, and women’s health.
“I truly enjoy being able to promote health and wellness, as well as providing care to our rural, underserved communities,” Ms. Bickel stated.
PAs are licensed medical professionals who work under the guidance of a physician.
They conduct physical examinations, diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, and are qualified to assist in a multitude of medical and surgical procedures.
PAs order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform suturing and castings, and work beside physicians in the operating room.
