Potsdam town board approves annual appointments, resolutions

POTSDAM — The Potsdam town board approved several annual appointments and resolutions at its organizational meeting held Jan. 12.

Rose Rivezzi was appointed as the town’s liaison to the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.

Larry Averill was appointed to fill an unexpired vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals with the term to expire on Dec. 31, 2022.

James Grant was named to fill an unexpired vacancy on the town planning board with the term to expire Dec. 31, 2024.

Donna Seymour will serve a three-year term on the town’s Ethics Committee. The term is to expire Dec. 31, 2023. The committee has three members who serve three-year terms.

The board also passed a resolution which authorized Town Supervisor Ann Carvill to sign an agreement with the county appointing the county public health director as the town’s local health officer.

The board adopted an employee travel policy. The policy states that the town will follow per diem rates for food and lodging as established annually by the US. General Services Administration, with exceptions for conference packages were the standard rates will apply.

The town’s mileage rate for town employees was set at the IRS rate for 2021 at 56 cents per mile.

The board authorized that town board members attend the Association of Town’s virtual conference with the town covering the registration fee; that the supervisor attend the conference or other training seminars as needed with registration, food per the travel policy, room rental and mileage rate covered by the town; and that the town highway superintendent be allowed to attend training at the conference, Cornell University training, and the highway conference with the expenses covered by the town.

The board passed a resolution allowing the assessor to attend state training and the clerk and or deputy clerk and the code enforcement officer to attend various trainings with expenses covered by the town.
