Potsdam town board approves 2021 salaries for elected officials, municipal positions

POTSDAM – The Potsdam town board has approved the 2021 salaries for elected officials and appointments and salaries for other municipal positions for the year.

The board held its annual reorganizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 12, where they passed resolutions for the positions in accordance with the 2021 budget.

Salaries for the town’s elected officials were:

• Supervisor Ann Carvill, $40,000

• Deputy Supervisor Marty Miller, $5,120 which includes the normal board member salary of $4,120 plus an additional $1,000 for the deputy supervisor’s additional duties

• Town board members Sarah Lister, Judy Rich, Toni Kennedy, $4,120 each

• Town Clerk Cindy Goliber, $52,790

• Highway Superintendent John Keleher, $77,000

• Town Justices Samuel Charleson and James Mason, $28,500.

Non-elected appointments and salaries for 2021 included:

• Margaret Brusso, supervisor’s bookkeeper, $45,432.53

• Sally Boslet, per-diem supervisor’s clerk, $25 per hour

• Cindy Goliber, tax collector, $5,400

• Karen McAllister, deputy tax collector, $1,025

• Tim Rivers, peace officer and constable, $21.71 per hour

• Heather Searles, cleaner, $17.63 per hour

• Francis Cappello, town attorney, $30,000

• Karen McAllister, historian, $800.

The board also approved the following 2021 salaries for town positions:

• Deputy Town Clerk Karen McAllister’s salary at $43,523.18

• Mallory James, clerk to the assessor, $29,400

• James McGuire, assessor, $44,380

• Sherri Stone, deputy court clerk, $42,836.57

• Lori Hayes, court clerk, $45,160

• Chastity Baxter, part-time court clerk, $18.91 per hour.

At the reorganizational meeting the board also agreed to appoint Mark Bradish, John Rose, Steve Keleher and Wayne D. Green as town fire wardens at $12.50 per hour, plus a mileage allowance and $1 per permit issued.

The board also set the salaries for the board of assessment review members at $20 per hour for the chairman and the minutes taker, and $17.50 for the other board members.

In addition, a stipend was approved to be paid to town planning board members at $500 for the chairperson and $300 for each member, including the alternate. The stipend is to be paid by vouchers in February and July.

Appointments to non-paid positions were Rose Rivezzi as liaison to the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce; Larry Averill to fill an unexpired vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals until Dec. 31, 2022; James Grant to fill an unexpired vacancy on the Planning Board until Dec. 31, 2024; and Donna Seymour to a three-year term on the town’s Ethics Committee, until Dec. 31, 2023.

Following the board’s reorganizational meeting, it convened its regular meeting session and approved two additional appointments.

The board passed a resolution to hire Kim Bisonette for clerical help in the code office. She will work at a rate of $25 per hour and the position was made retroactive back to Dec. 22, 2020. The position is to continue until the help is no longer needed the resolution said.

After an executive session, the board also agreed to hire Michael McQuade as a part-time codes officer. The job is not to exceed 30 hours per pay period at a rate of $24.36 per hour, effective Jan. 11.
