POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Central School Board of Education approved many coaching positions and auxiliary personnel.
The board also approved a sports merger with Brasher Falls Central for girls hockey and spring track.
Coaching and personnel positions approved include:
Dawn Rottier and Rebecca Pentalow will serve as modified boys soccer co-coaches. Both currently work at AAK and were co-coaches in track last winter. They will split a stipend on step 1 of the salary schedule, $2,027.20.
Andy Deon was appointed as an assistant football coach to the modified team. He has a background in football which includes being a standout player at PCS as well as with the local semi-pro teams, according the PCS. He has also worked as an assistant coach with the Clarkson University Club Football Team. He serves as a teaching assistant in the BOCES ABA Program. He will be paid at step 1 of the salary schedule, $2,027.20.
Melissa Cummings was approved to be the varsity girls basketball coach. She has served as a JV coach and an assistant coach for the varsity team. She is a certified teacher employed by SUNY Potsdam. She will be paid at step 3 of the salary schedule, $4,115.
Chris Johnson will serve as a non-paid coach working with the boys’ soccer program. He has served in this capacity over the past few years and wishes to continue, PCS said.
Kady Hart was approved as a non-paid coach working with the girls’ soccer program. Hart is a certified teacher in the BOCES Life Skills class at the high school.
Leah Cruikshank will serve as a non-paid coach with the girls’ soccer program. She is a teacher assistant working with BOCES in our district.
Kaitlin Blanchard was appointed as a volunteer manager with the girls swim program. She is a recent graduate of the BOCES Life Skills program and was a member of the swim team throughout high school.
Alex Quinn was appointed as lifeguard for the modified and varsity swim program. She is a recent graduate and former member of the swim team and will be paid $11.80 per hour.
Alex Baxter was appointed as lifeguard for the modified and varsity swim program. Baxter is currently a sophomore at PCS and will be paid $11.80 per hour.
