Parts of St. Lawrence County under winter weather advisory Friday

There is snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service is warning people in southern St. Lawrence County -- Gouverneur, Edwards, Star Lake, Cranberry Lake, and other areas at higher elevations -- that three to six inches of snow could fall between Friday morning and Saturday morning.

The rest of the North Country could see some snow, but not as much, according to the NWS.

Forecasters say the snow in the south will likely be heaviest from mid-morning to early afternoon Friday. There could be some ice, and the snow could be mixed with sleet and freezing rain in the afternoon. Southeast winds could gust up to 25 mph, restricting visibility.

A hazardous weather outlook for the same period is posted for the rest of the region, as the chance of precipitation starts to rise, reaching 100 percent tomorrow, with two to four inches of snow and sleet accumulation.

But tonight, not much bad weather is expected, with mostly cloudy skies and lows around 26 degrees.

High tomorrow, with sleet and snow, will be about 34. Sleet will turn to snow tomorrow night, with lows around 21 and light winds.

There is a 70 percent chance of some snow Saturday morning, as highs for the day rise to about 30.

Then the skies clear and the thermometer drops. Saturday night it will be partly cloudy with lows around 5. Highs Sunday will be in the mid-20s under sunny skies. Clouds move in again Sunday night, and it will be cold again, around 10 degrees.

For next week, it seems that cloudy skies, relatively warm temperatures and a moderate chance of snow showers will predominate.
