PARISHVILLE — A Parishville-Hopkinton Central School bus driver is on administrative leave following an accident that resulted in injuries to several students.
Superintendent Steve Coffin confirmed a school bus was involved in an accident on Thursday, March 9. He said there were nine students on the bus at the time of the accident.
“The school bus drifted off the road, drove over a culvert, and came to a stop in an embankment,” he said.
Some of the students were injured during the accident. School officials say number of those students received medical care within the hour.
“We did have some students need medical attention at different points following the accident,” Coffin said.
“Some students received care within hours of the accident and others received care the next day as they didn't have noticeable effects from the accident until later that night or the following morning.
Coffin said the driver is on administrative leave until the investigation into the cause of the crash is completed.
He said he could not provide any additional details regarding personnel or procedures that were followed immediately following the accident, as that is all part of the investigation.
