POTSDAM-- Amvets Post 282, 6771 US Highway 11, will hold an open house from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. The event is open to all veterans.

The Syracuse VA Medical Center will be on hand to answer questions about VA healthcare enrollment and related issues and help register for ID cards and file claims. If you are a veteran and not enrolled with VA Healthcare, you must bring a photo ID and copy of your DD214.

The Watertown Vet Center van and DAV transportation vans will be on site.

VA Medical Center personnel will also help veterans understand how they may get healthcare benefits under the PACT Act. This act expands healthcare for the estimated 3.5 million veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits areas used to discard trash by incinerating it.

Burn pits were common around U.S. military camps in Iraq and Afghanistan. Studies have linked them to cancer, asthma and other chronic health problems.
