POTSDAM -- Two men were charged with driving while intoxicated along Maple Street in the village by St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies early Saturday, and state police report that they had charged one of them earlier with DWI and traffic violations.
Conley R. Brodziak, 20, of Amherst was stopped along Elm Street in the village by troopers at shortly before 2 a.m. They charged him with failure to keep right, unsafe turn, and driving while his blood alcohol level was .08 percent. Troopers say they released him to a third party.
Sheriff's deputies report stopping Brodziak at 3:53 a.m. for allegedly failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and he reportedly had a blood alcohol level of 08 percent. He was given tickets on both charges.
Ian T. Kraus, 21, also of Amherst, was stopped along Maple Street at 4:10 a.m. and according to deputies had a blood alcohol level of .13 percent. He was also given a ticket.
Both men are to appear in Potsdam Village Court at a later date.
Meanwhile at 4:23 a.m. in Massena, state police stopped Nha V. Dixon, 40, of Massena as he drove along St. Rt. 37. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, imprudent speed, and failure to keep right. His status was reported by state police as "held."
