OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is now offering the boating safety course online with live instructors from the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Classes are being formed now and you can register by calling 315-605-8041 or email to cgauxogdensburg@gmail.com.
New York State will require all power boat operators, (who must be a minimum of 10 years of age) to complete a boating safety course per the following schedule. All personal watercraft (jet ski) operators regardless of age and a minimum of 14 years of age must complete a boating safety course.
Born after Jan. 1, 1993 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2020.
Born after Jan. 1, 1988 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2022.
Born after Jan. 1, 1983 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2023.
Born after Jan. 1, 1978 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2024.
As of Jan. 1, 2025, all motorized vessels operators need a boating safety certificate regardless of your age.
The “About Boating Safely” certificate and card never expires, and is easily replaced if lost or damaged by contacting the Ogdensburg Auxiliary. This training is valid in all 50 states.
Cost of attending this online training is $35 per person with family rates available.
