OGDENSBURG — An Ogdensburg Free Academy student will be charged with making a terroristic threat that caused a lockdown of the school on March 3.

A press release issued by Ogdensburg Police Chief Mark Kearns says that at 8:23 a.m. the Ogdensburg Police Department’s School Resource Officer received a complaint from Ogdensburg Free Academy staff in regards to a bomb threat.

“An investigation into the matter was quickly launched by the Ogdensburg Police Department with cooperation with the school district,” Kearns said in the release.

“A search of the school was conducted with assistance of the New York State Police, United States Customs and Border Protection and New York State Police explosive detection canines.”

Kearns said that while an OFA student will be charged with making terroristic threats (class D felony) and will appear in family court on a later date, no further information will be released due to the student’s age.
