Ogdensburg City Council hires new rec director, codes officer, assessor

OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg City Council has hired a new recreation director, codes officer and assessor.

Additionally, the city promoted Nicole Woods, formerly a Housing Inspector, to the position of Code Officer.

“The City of Ogdensburg is excited to have these individuals join the city workforce and we look forward to talent and experience each of them bring to the community. Since assuming responsibility for the city in January 2020, Mayor Jeffrey M. Skelly has worked tirelessly to transition city government to a smaller, more cost effective and results driven organization. The addition of these three individuals to these important positions furthers that goal and continues the strong work of ensuring the survival of the city while working equally as hard on the revival of the city,” City Manager Stephen Jellie said in a prepared statement.

Ogdensburg Assessor

Mark Schnorr was named to the assessor position.

After working as a real property appraiser for 15 years for the Town of Webster in Monroe County, Schnorr and his wife had an opportunity to relocate to Adelaide, Australia for her work.

“When we returned to the USA, I took on the Assessor responsibilities for a small agricultural town also in Monroe County. We had purchased a camp on Black Lake and in 2010 built a new home there. A few years after building our retirement home on Black Lake, the Town of Oswegatchie offered me the Town Assessor’s position,” said in a prepared statement. “I am happy to apply my 30-plus years of assessment experience to help the City of Ogdensburg.”

Code Enforcement Officer

Ronald Dulmage is a native of Toronto, Canada, and citizen of the USA.

A retired Chief Operating Officer of Electronic Type Approval Testing Laboratories, Ronald Dulmage was named code officer for Ogdensburg. He was a former housing inspector for HUD section 8 program in St. Lawrence County and housing inspector for the City of Ogdensburg.

He has also been a licensed realtor in New York State.

Code Enforcement Officer

Nicole Woods is an Ogdensburg native and graduate of Elmira College with who started working with the city on the initial “zombie property initiative” as a part-time employee in 2017 and subsequently as a housing inspector with the city. She has been certified in Code Enforcement since 2018. Additionally, she has been a HUD Certified Director for St. Lawrence County and is a past FEMA Board Director for St. Lawrence County 2003, 2004. She is an active member of Women of the Moose.

Recreation Director

Ogdensburg has named Mackenzie Cole as its new recreation director.

She is an Ogdensburg native and has a degree in sports management from Keuka College. She has experience developing and implementing recreational programs for DOCCS. Prior to working with DOCCS, she was the assistant women’s basketball coach at SUNY Potsdam. She has previously worked for the recreation department while attending high school at OFA.
