Ogdensburg and St. Lawrence County will split $750,000 in federal economic development money.
The Ogdensburg Growth Fund Development Corporation will get $250,000 to give business loans, according to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s office.
St. Lawrence County will get $500,000 to “reestablish safe access to rail infrastructure through removal of dilapidated structures.” The announcement from Stefanik’s office does not say which structures are coming down.
The grants come from the Northern Border Regional Commission.
“I am pleased to announce significant grants from the Northern Border Regional Commission that will go a long way toward improving our North Country infrastructure,” Stefanik said in a prepared statement. “I’m proud that my office was able to help secure this necessary funding. Infrastructure is critical to creating jobs and increasing economic opportunity, and I applaud the NBRC for their announcement. In Congress, I will continue working to improve our local infrastructure.”
