NY Senate candidate Lapper to visit St. Lawrence County

Posted

POTSDAM — Democrat Jean Lapper, who is running for the New York State Senate in the newly reconfigured district 45, the largest senate district in the state which includes much of St. Lawrence County as well as surrounding counties, will visit the area on Sunday, Sept. 25.

She will be on hand meeting local voters in Potsdam, Canton, Massena, and Akwesasne.

Her first stop will be at Jernabi’s Coffeehouse, 11 Maple St. from 10-11:30 a.m.

Next on the schedule is a visit to Canton from noon-1:30 p.m., meeting at the village park if weather permits, or in the Paige Room downstairs in the Canton Free Library across from the park in the event of rain.

Massena and Akwesasne are the next two destinations at times and places to be determined.

All are welcome and encouraged to bring any questions and concerns to any of these events.

Lapper is CPA from Queensbury, and says that as a small business owner herself, she knows small businesses are the backbone of the North Country and understands their needs, including the importance of broadband to the region.

She is a strong supporter of reproductive rights and, as a mother, knows the importance of quality childcare, a press release from her campaign said.

Other priorities are senior care and affordable housing as well as protecting the environment.

She supports the Second Amendment and “believes ‘reasonable commonsense restrictions’ are important so citizens can have the right to go to stores, to schools and to other public places safely.”

This November, Lapper is challenging Republican incumbent Dan Stec who has absorbed some of NY Senator Joe Griffo’s former territory in redistricting.
