Norfolk PD starting program to write positive citations for kids doing good deeds

NORFOLK -- The Norfolk Town Police Department is implementing a new community program.

The “Positive Ticket Program” will allow officers to write children “positive” tickets for good behavior which can then be redeemed at Hazel’s Ice Cream in Norfolk for a free small custard.

The program is to be issued for children who are conducting activities such as obeying helmet laws, picking up garbage at the park, or helping their parents with lawn care.

This community program aims to improve community relations with law enforcement, and encourage children to make good choices, the department said.

Any questions regarding the Positive Ticket Program may be directed to Patrolman Reynolds at 315- 384-4200.

All tickets issued must be redeemed at Hazel’s Ice Cream in Norfolk by Oct. 31.

If the new community program is well received then it will be implemented again next year, the police department said.
