GOUVERNEUR -- Gouverneur based state police investigated a car/motorcycle accident Monday in which
Troopers were called at 10:40am to St. Rt. 11 at the intersection of Cty. Rt. 9 in the town of Gouverneur.
A pickup truck driven by William Griffin had been southbound followed by a motorcycle. Griffin signaled a left turn and slowed down, troopers said.
The operator of the motorcycle, John Yerdon, failed to notice the slowing pick up truck, lost control of his motorcycle and struck the driver's side door as Griffin was attempting the turn, according to state police.
Yerdon and his motorcycle skidded down the pavement and went into a ditch.
Yerdon was taken to E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur by Gouverneur Rescue Squad for complaint of pain to the chest. He was then taken by ambulance to Syracuse for further care.
Yerdon was issued traffic tickets for following too closely and unsafe speed.
Griffin was not injured in accident.
