MASSENA -- Massena Electric Department is using audits to help rate payers cut down on energy used, thus saving money on their electric bills.
The utility has contracted with Energy Answers, a local firm that provides energy audits for MED customers at a nominal cost that is reimbursed if recommended improvements are made to their homes.
The program also provides credits for improvements that are the lesser of 100 percent of projected electrical savings over 5 years per improvement, or the cost of materials required per improvement.
From left in the photo are Jeff Loomis of Energy Answers and MED Superintendent Andrew McMahon, who made a presentation on the plan to the Massena Rotary Club recently.
