MASSENA — A Massena man was arrested on a felony after allegedly stealing more than $1,400 in merchandise from Walmart in Malone on Saturday night.
Troopers said they responded to a reported larceny shortly before 7 p.m. Feb. 27 to the store on U.S. Highway 11
The suspect had fled in a vehicle before troopers arrived on scene but police found his vehicle and made a traffic stop.
Police say 31-year-old Brian D. Laprade of Massena stole three heated jackets, a Gotrax electric scooter, a Shark Robot vacuum, and a Bissell Crosswave cordless floor cleaner.
When approached by store employees, Laprade fled in a vehicle.
Police said Laprade was also found in possession of other stolen property from another retailer in the village of Malone. He was also found to be operating with a suspended license.
Laprade was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, trooper said.
He was released with tickets returnable to the Malone Town Court and then turned over to Malone police for further investigation of stolen property.
