MASSENA — The Massena Hospital Foundation has been awarded funding to continue the “Be Sun Smart” Skin Cancer Detection Clinic at Massena Hospital’s Dermatology Clinic in the Medical Office Building on Maple Street.
In 2022, 44% of “Be Sun Smart” patients were found to have pre-cancerous or cancerous cells or lesions requiring follow up care.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide the funding for this important skin cancer detection clinic for our community again this year,” said Julia Rose, MH Foundation executive director. “It is important that patients return for follow up care when necessary. The MH Foundation is happy to announce that this year, the MH Foundation will cover the facility fee for patients requiring follow up care that apply for financial assistance through Massena Hospital/St. Lawrence Health.”
The monthly clinics are first come, first served appointments between 12 and 1 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month beginning Jan. 25.
