MASSENA -- The Village Board of Trustees approved new hires, new appointments within the Department of Public Works, and gave the DPW the go-ahead to look for a new motor equipment operator.
The board appointed Trista Drake as part-time deputy village clerk, effective Oct. 26. Village Administrator Monique Chatland was recently appointed to that position, after having been the village clerk. The part-time clerk is for up to 20 hours per week at $15 per hour. Chatland said Drake was their “most qualified” applicant. Deputy Mayor Matt Lebire said the position is “a net negative, it’s not an addition to the budget.”
The board also appointed Alyssa Wilson as an account clerk effective Nov. 4. The provisional appointment comes at $15 per hour, Chatland said. She added that Wilson has experience with payroll as well as collecting bills, accounts receivable.”
The board approved two appointments from within the DPW. Bill Favreau was appointed Water Department assistant foreman. Sean Castle was appointed to a backhoe operator position.
The trustees also accepted a resignation from DPW motor equipment operator John O’Brien, effective Oct. 18. They also gave DPW Superintendent Hassan Fayad the okay to canvas for a replacement.
