MASSENA -- Masks will not required for residents who are vaccinated at the Massena Town Council meeting tonight, May 19.

“The Massena Town and Village boards would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for following guidance from the CDC and New York State during the pandemic. We have worked hard to be accessible to provide services that residents have expected, within strict limitations of spreading the COVID-19 virus and we can all take pride at the progress we have made,” Town Supervisor Steve O'Shaughnessy said.

“At last month's regular meeting, the Massena Town Council determined that we would resume open, in person board meetings along with our Facebook Live program starting with the May Board meeting, which will take place tonight,” O’Shaugnessy said. “The Village Board held their regular May meeting which was open to the public as well as providing ZOOM access. Both meetings were scheduled to take place with wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.”

Governor Cuomo reported that last week that the CDC announced new guidance on mask use and social distancing for fully vaccinated individuals Wednesday.

“Effective today, the Town and Village of Massena will follow the Governor’s guidance policies at Massena municipal properties, which will not require masks or social distancing measures for those who are fully vaccinated. We would ask that those who have not been fully vaccinated please follow the proper mask wearing and social distancing Thank you for your perseverance and assistance during this most difficult time,” he said.
