HERMON -- State police are investigating a fatal accident Sunday after a vehicle overturned in Elm Creek, according to state police.
Ryan L. Wood, 42, of Edwards found dead inside the vehicle, which was submerged in four-feet of water on May 9 at 7:29 a.m., officers said.
State police said the vehicle was on its roof, partially submerged in the water. A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling south on County Route 21 when it exited the west shoulder of the roadway. It then struck a guiderail, ran down a sloped embankment, struck a large rock and rolled into the creek.
Troopers say the vehicle came to rest on its roof, submerged.
Hermon Rescue personnel arrived on scene first and located the sole occupant, identified inside the vehicle deceased.
St. Lawrence County Coroner Joseph White arrived on scene and authorized removal of the body to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where an autopsy is pending.
This crash remains under investigation.
