COLTON — A two-story home on Wilson Road was deemed a total loss following a blaze Friday night, according to Pierrepont Fire Department First Assistant Chief Tim Green.
The fire, at 170 Wilson Rd. was reported around 10:30 p.m. by the homeowner, Guy Wallace, Green said.
No one was injured and Wallace was able to get his dog out of the house before the blaze took over.
Firefighters had to use portable pumps to battle the blaze because they were unable to get fire trucks up the driveway to the home, he said.
Firemen used water front a nearby brook to put the fire out, which took about three hours.
Colton and Hannwa Falls firemen, along with their equipment, assisted in putting the blaze out.
Pierrepont firefighters were back in service around 2 a.m.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
The American Red Cross provided emergency relief to the homeowner.
