EDWARDS — A local author has released “Hiking the Trails to Yesterday” Volume II.

Some of the chapters include Wolf lake State Forest, Big Pine Trail, Harper Falls, Moore Trail, Stone Valley Trails, Mt. Arab, and Big Trout Pond.

The book features all-new trails and content from the North Country.

Fifteen chapters take an in-depth look at trails in Wanakena, Edwards. Russell, Colton, Tupper Lake, Hermon, Piercefield, and Vermontville.

Volume II picks up where the original “Hiking the Trails to Yesterday” book left off, says author William Hill

Hill explained by he wrote this book.

“I’m a North Country native and a very active hiker, snowshoer, and kayaker,” he said. “I have always had a great interest in local history.”

Hill says about five years ago he started researching some of the histories as they pertained to local hikes and places off of the roadside. He decided to share his findings and started a webpage/blog -https://hikingthetrailtoyesterday.wordpress.com/ .

“This got plenty of traffic and I started to have folks asking about the possibility of a book,” Hill said.

The first Hiking the Trail to Yesterday book was released in April 2019 and has done very well, he said.

“I had originally planned for Volume II to be released a year ago, but with the world being upside down due to COVID 19, I put it on the back burner until this year. I'm in the process of getting the book on local vendor's shelves along with the first book.”
