POTSDAM -- Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley recently provided training in the “When Grief Comes to School” series for St. Lawrence County School Districts.
Thanks to a grant from the Northern New York Community Foundation, Stewart’s Shops and a grant in memory of Christian House, attendees left with information
and much more.
Hospice trained 22 school counselors and personnel to implement the activities contained in grief toolboxes and provided one for each school district.
Each participating school district received their own Grief Toolbox, which contains about 35 items that can help young people work through the loss of a friend or loved one.
“Having all of the activities and supplies already gathered puts us one step ahead when we need to respond to a death in the school,” said one attendee. “This is a huge help.”
