PIERREPONT — A Hermon man was charged with driving while intoxicated and other offenses in connection with a Feb. 12 accident on County Route 29.
A county sheriff’s deputy charged Andrew J. Burwell, 37, with driving while intoxicated, a class D felony, on March 22. Burwell had two prior DWI convictions, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
He was also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (a class E felony), operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, reckless driving, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to keep right in connection with the accident.
During the investigation of the accident on Feb. 12, Burwell was found to be intoxicated, but he refused to provide a blood sample to determine his blood alcohol content.
The sheriff’s office said he was later arrested and arraigned before Pierrepont Town Justice Filiatrualt.
The justice revoked Burwell’s drivers license and he was released on his own recognizance.
